Marie Fish, 94, of Houtzdale died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the home of her daughter.
Born in rural Houtzdale on Feb. 20, 1922 she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Laury) Mayhue.
She was a life-long member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Houtzdale.
She was also a member of Houtzdale Lions Club, the Houtzdale American Legion Post 591 Auxiliary and Osceola Mills VFW Post No. 5020 Auxiliary.
She was employed at Penn State University until her retirement.
On June 8, 1948, she married Alfred Fish, who preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (William) Ellis and Sharon Gregory of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Michelle (Anthony) Anaya and Angela Kohute, both of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ronald Kohute of Ashville NC, Michael Kohute of Pittsburgh, Robert Kohute of Washington, D.C., Teresa (Michael) Kitko of Houtzdale, Jody (Kristopher) Boyer of Rural Valley, Shane (Danielle) Gregory of Bigler and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her companion, George Mandel; a daughter, Mary Ruterman; three sons, Robert, Michael and Ronald Kohute; a grandson, Joey Ellis; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Mayhue; and a sister, Helen McVay.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Houtzdale with Father William Ellis officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
The Houtzdale American Legion Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by the Houtzdale Lions Club service at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 203 Dorthea St., Houtzdale, PA 16651.
