Esther A. Coval, 90, a resident of the Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone and formerly of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Tyrone.

Born Feb. 10, 1926 in Houtzdale, she was a daughter of the late Romeo and Josephine (Gatti) DiBiagio.

Mrs. Coval was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, where she was also formerly a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

She was a 1943 graduate of the Woodward Township High School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper with the Reiter Insurance/Real Estate Company of Philipsburg until her retirement.

On Nov. 29, 1947 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Houtzdale, she married George E. Coval. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2004.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond DiBiagio and a sister-in-law, Dolly DiBiagio.

Mrs. Coval is survived by three sons, Raymond J. Coval and his wife, Marlene D. and Joseph P. Coval, both of York, and George Coval and his wife, Kathleen of Philipsburg.

She is survived by a sister, Nilda Bodholt and her husband, Erik of Spokane, Wash., and two brothers, Anthony DiBiagio of Elwood City and Elmo DiBiagio and his wife, Journn of Oslo, Norway.

She is also survived by five grandchildren, Krista A. Bachert and her husband, Brett of Memphis, Tenn., Kara J. Mischler and her husband, Eric of Reading, Kevin G. Coval of Philipsburg, and Angela S. Godfrey and her husband, Daniel and Christopher R. Coval and his wife, Liann, all of York; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. John Gibbons as celebrant. Burial will follow at  the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Philipsburg.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg.

The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
