Darrell J. Patton Sr., 70, of DuBois died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home.
Born March 27, 1946 in Tyrone, he was the son of his late mother, Isabel (Howard) Patton and his late father, Donald Patton.
On May 15, 1971, he married Shirley Mae (Muth) Patton. She survives.
Mr. Patton graduated from Tyrone High School in 1964 where he played football and wrestled, and then the Allegheny Technical Institute in 1996.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Workforce Education and Instructional Development from the Pennsylvania State University in 2007.
He retired as a field service technician in 2015 from Sheetz Inc. after 20 years of service.
Previously, Mr. Patton owned and operated his own business, DJ Electronics from 1972-1995.
He received a certification completion for refrigeration from Ferris University in 1992.
He was an instructor at Jeff Tech in Reynoldsville in Electronic Technology and Electrical Construction from 1972 to 1979.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Brockway. He enjoyed taking photographs of wildlife and flowers, capturing great pictures.
Mr. Patton was an avid Steelers fan, Pirates fan and Penn State football and basketball fan. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Most importantly, he loved his family.
He is survived by two sons, Darrell J. Patton Jr. of DuBois and Jonathan Patton and his wife, Denise of Greer, SC, and three grandchildren, Morgan, Isabel and Olivia Patton.
He is also survived by a sister, Donna Masaveg of Garfield Heights, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Patricia L. Muth of DuBois.
Mr. Patton was preceded in death by his sister, Mary E. Patton.
A private family service was held from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Lutcher officiated the service.
Burial is in Boone Mountain Cemetery.
