Obituary Notice: James L. Shepler

James L. Shepler, 73, of Hyde died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born July 29, 1942 in Colver, a son to the late William H. Shepler and Anna M. (Gallaher) Shepler.

Mr. Shepler worked at Plubell Brothers, Pinegrove Nursery, McDonald Land & Mine Co., and Hepburnia Coal Co. He delivered newspapers for The Progress and most recently drove school bus for Kip’s Bus Lines.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending his time at the fire hall. He was a member of the Hyde Volunteer Fire Department No. 6 and Lawrence Township Fire Police.

His survivors includes six siblings, Daniel Shepler of Hillsdale, Kathie Hamilton of Hyde, Aggie Hunt of Curwensville, Robert Shepler of Glen Richey, Bonnie Turner of Clearfield and Richard “Dick” Shepler of NJ; his beloved nephew, Daniel Shepler Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Shepler and Clarence Shepler; four sisters, Mary Young, Barbara Young, Bertha Hunt and Janet Peters; two nephews, Ronald Young and James Turner; and three nieces, Pamela Young, Patsy Young and Kathy Bickley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. John White officiating. Burial will be at Watts Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
