Obituary Notice: Annie I. Morgan

Annie I. Morgan, 102, of Luthersburg died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Christ the King Manor.

Born Sept. 28, 1913 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel (Kiel) Woods.

On Dec. 24, 1939, she married Willard E. Morgan Sr.  He preceded her in death July 22, 2004.

Mrs. Morgan worked as a postal clerk in Luthersburg from 1954 until 1971.  She then served as the postmaster of the Rockton Post Office from 1971 until her retirement in 1981.

She was a 1932 graduate of the Brady Township High School.  After high school, she graduated from Andrews School of Cosmetology in Buffalo, NY.

She was a charter member of the Brady Township Volunteer Fire Department’s Women’s Auxiliary.

She was a lifetime member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress. She was a member of the Luthersburg United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Morgan was a charter member of the Brady Township Band Booster Club.

She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, crafts, traveling and music.

She is survived by a daughter, Veryl McGarvey and her husband, Lee of Milpitas, Calif., and a son, Willard “Bill” Morgan Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Luthersburg.

She is survived by five grandchildren, David, Steven and Lynda McGarvey, Wendy Whaling, and Chad Morgan; five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Sean and Brent McGarvey and Chantel and Dalton Whaling; a sister, Edith Kilmer of DuBois; a sister-in-law, Audrey Woods of DuBois; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Max, Clyde and Art Woods and four sisters, Elaine Spicher, Dorothy Lines, Grace Opperman and Doris Swanson.

There will be no public visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Luthersburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Howe officiating.

Burial is in Morningside Cemetery.
