Terry W. Welsh, 51, of Philipsburg died Friday, April 8, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

He was born Jan. 22, 1965, a son Carolyn May (Gearhart) Welsh Reed, who survives of Philipsburg.

Mr. Welsh was a Christian by faith. He attended and played music at gFREE Church in Gearhartville, RD Philipsburg.

He was a 1983 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School, Philipsburg, and the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center, Clearfield.

He held a number of local employment opportunities throughout his working career. He was first the owner/operator of the former Welsh Electronics, Philipsburg.

He was employed with the former C-COR/Arris Group, State College. He was then employed with the Philipsburg – Osceola Area School District for more than 20 years and where he held various courier, security and A-V responsibilities.

He was most recently employed as an assembler with Druckers Diagnostics, Philipsburg.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Welsh is survived by his maternal grandmother, Frances Ruth (Conklin) Gearhart; one brother, Richard W. Reed Sr. and his wife, Amanda; three nephews, Nicholas A. Showers, Richard W. Reed Jr. and Joseph Todd Reed; his girlfriend, Amy J. (Bambarger) Phillips; and his three dogs, Timmy, Abbey and Jazzy, all of Philipsburg.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Merle J. Gearhart and his step-father, Howard R. Reed Jr.

He had a great love for music, and his life and interests reflected that talent. He was involved in a number of personal musical projects and local acts throughout his life. These local bands included Fazz-Jackal, Jagged Edge, Steadfast, 180’s Christian Band, Sol and most recently, The JAM.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
