Investigation Continues after Lawn Mower Catches Fire Inside Garage

GRAHAM TOWNSHIP – The investigation continues after a lawn mower caught fire inside a garage Monday at 2640 Allport Cutoff in Graham Township, reported state police at Ridgway.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Morrisdale Fire Department investigated the fire. Further, the homeowner, Franklin Eboch, 72, of Morrisdale was working on a lawn mower when it caught fire; the lawn mower was located inside his garage at the time, state police said.

A passing motorist observed black smoke coming from the garage as well as the lawn mower on fire. The motorist pushed the lawn mower from the garage and assisted Eboch with getting out. Eboch sustained injuries from the fire, and he was flown for treatment, according to state police.

The cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined, and it remains under investigation at this time. Damage has been estimated at $30,000. “Quick response from the Morrisdale Fire Company prevented further damage,” state police said, noting Eboch does have insurance.
