Roland Raymond Marien, 91, of Brookpark Ohio and formerly of Houtzdale, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Burton Health Care Center in Burton, Ohio.
Born Nov. 20, 1924 in Houtzdale, he was the son of Raymond and Barbara (Ferlitch) Marien.
Mr. Marien was a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. He was employed at Helex in Bedford Heights, Ohio until his retirement.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On March 4, 1946 in Hagerstown Md., he married Emily Louise Friberg, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2008
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Booth of Parma, Ohio, Barbara Marien of Parma Heights, Ohio and Sandra Marien of Chardon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Todd Booth, Kelly Ann Booth, Nathaniel Wenzel, Stephanie Braford, Rachel Istenes, Christopher Marien; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth Jones of Smokerun and Doris Phillips of Niagara Falls, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, a brother, Oliver Ross Marien and a sister, Lois Schrock.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Pastor Andrew Griffith officiating.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
