Gordon William ‘Gordie’ Kerin, 72, of Clearfield died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 6, 1943 in Clearfield, a son of the late John F. ‘Baldy’ and Faye N. (Peters) Kerin.

Mr. Kerin graduated from the Clearfield High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard.

Before his illness, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

He had a great sense of humor, always had a story or joke to tell and you never left him without a smile on your face.

Mr. Kerin is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Petriskie) Kerin of Clearfield and two brothers and a sister, Jack Kerin and his wife, Jackie of California, Joseph ‘Jody’ Kerin and his wife, Janet of Curwensville and Colleen ‘Mickie’ Kerin Bender.

He is survived by a son, James Kerin of Hyde; two daughters, Robin Desmett and her husband, Mike of Woodland and Windy Heitsenrether and her husband, Ryan of Curwensville; and two step-daughters, Regina Billotte and her husband, Dennis of Frenchville and Allica Hutton and her husband, Ray of West Decatur.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryan, Devan and Cheyenne Kerin, Casey Derrick, Maci and Broc Heitsenrether and Brandon Desmett; four step-grandchildren, Tasha Gagnon and her partner, Michael Rose, Choneene and Jarrett Lancaste and Cheyenne Hutton; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond ‘Bill’ Burton Kerin and his nephew, Christopher Kerin.

A private memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, 113 N. Third St., Clearfield.
