A Pennsylvania food bank is asking consumers to throw away cans of Mandarin oranges distributed from August to January, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday.
Imperial Choice Mandarin Oranges Broken Segments in Light Syrup are being recalled because the cans might bulge, burst or leak, and spoilage organisms might have contaminated the products.
There have been no reports of illnesses, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank said.
Food bank officials said consumers should toss any cans marked with the code 4200/01029. The products were distributed in Pennsylvania, the FDA reported in reposting the food bank’s news release. Food pantries should inventory their stock, notify the Pittsburgh food bank and remove the oranges from shelves.
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is a 36-year-old nonprofit that has a network of more than 400 partners in 11 counties in southwestern Pennsylvania.
