AAUW Series Kicks Off at Shaw Library

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Branch of American Association of University Women’s annual Books-Sandwiched-In series begins at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library.

The event features book reviews by local residents and meals prepared by event organizers.

AAUW will kick off Book-Sandwiched-In with the book “Playing St. Barbara” by Marian Szczepanski. Pat Bishop will review this book, which is set in Pennsylvania during the depression. It follows a coal miner’s wife and her three daughters with their struggles during this time period in U.S. history.

All are welcome to attend the reviews at the library on Wednesdays through April 20.

The cost for the lunch provided during the presentations at 12 p.m. will be a donation of $4.  The cost for the evening program on April 20 at 7 p.m. will be a $3 donation, and will include cookies and punch. Proceeds from the program fund the AAUW Scholarship.

The library is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Fridays from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
