Joseph E. Sankey Jr., 84, of Osceola Mills died Monday, March 21, 2016 at his home.
Born June 24, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Effie M. (Cowfer) Sankey.
He married Lydia M. (Rutt) Sankey on Dec. 31, 1954 in Benson, Neb. She preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1999.
Mr. Sankey was of the Presbyterian faith, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a retired meat cutter for Acme in Lincoln, Neb. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Sankey and four sisters, Nancy Brolin, Peggy Owens, Zola Lee Sankey and Donna Rae Sankey.
He is survived by five sisters, Betty Ann Haney and her husband, Richard of Drifting, Beverly Mignot of Allport, Judith Bires and her husband, Michael of RD Philipsburg, Bonnie Marty Brennamen and her husband, Frank of Lewistown and Kathy Olson and her husband, David of Clearfield and three brothers, Daniel I Sankey of Houtzdale, John W. Sankey and his wife, Peggy of Philipsburg and Fred H. Sankey and his wife, Jamie of Greenville.
Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb. There will be no funeral service of viewing.
