Josephine K. Kasubick, 87, of Houtzdale died Friday, March 18, 2016 at UPMC Altoona.
Born Dec. 17, 1928 at Hawk Run, she was the daughter of John and Susan (Rusnak) Zahuranec.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the America’s Court Saint Victoria No. 646.
She loved cooking, baking and canning. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially having family meals and decorating for Christmas.
She was a 1947 graduate of Morris Township High School and was a homemaker following the birth of her first child.
She had previously worked at Brown’s Boot Shop and Sheldon’s Printing Card & Stationary Shop, both formerly of Philipsburg.
On Oct. 15, 1949 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hawk Run, she married Leonard A. Kasubick, who died March 24, 2005.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Kasubick of Houtzdale; two sons, Leonard Kasubick and his wife, Nancy of Indiana, Pa., and James Kasubick of Houtzdale; two grandchildren, Katie Kasubick of Charlottesville, Va., and Lucas Kasubick of Winchester, Va.; a brother, John Zahuranec of Ashland, Ohio; and a sister, Susan Wilson and her husband, William of Lansdale, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Lenny and two brothers, Joseph and Martin Zahuranec.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Marc Solomon as celebrant.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale.
The rosary will be recited by the Catholic Daughters at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Barbara’s Cemetery, Brisbin.
