MORRISDALE – Tailor B. Pelton is the 25-year-old wife of Kyle Pelton and the mother of 2.5-year-old Sawyer Pelton, and she is a fighting a rare form of cancer.

Tailor lives with her family in Morrisdale. She is the daughter of Scott and Angie Wilkinson. She also works as a nurse at Gray’s Woods OBGYN.

She was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called adrenocortical carcinoma. It is also known as adrenal cortical carcinoma.

“A tumor was found on Jan. 14 and on Feb. 8 she had surgery to remove it. Unfortunately, it was confirmed to be cancerous on Feb. 12,” said Eric Pelka, a family friend.

A family member, Arielle Pelton, is also the creator of the “Tailor Tough” Facebook page.

According to Pelka, this cancer affects one to two per million annually and is very aggressive. Not to mention, treatment plans for adrenocortical carcinoma are very costly.

“They involve a lot of traveling between centers, drug therapy and the risk of further surgery.  Radiation therapy remains a last-minute option if need be,” Pelka said.

Pelka added, “Tailor and her husband have dreams of buying a bigger, newer house, giving a baby brother or sister to Sawyer and of growing old and happy together.

“Still, debt and financial hardship often wreaks havoc on the working age cancer victim.”

According to Pelka, “Tailor Tough” is a way of giving back to these three, strong people and breathing life into these dreams they have.

“This is a movement to bring awareness to the world about this aggressive and rare form of cancer, while also helping to fund the fight this family will be waging over the coming years,” Pelka said.

“Whether it is in treatment costs, offsetting lost wages or bolstering this family’s ability to keep moving upward, every well-wish, every fiscal donation and every share will be appreciated from the bottom of our hearts.

“The fight has just begun, but let’s all stay #TAILORTOUGH!”

Pelka said people can make donations through the “Tailor Tough” GoFundMe page and find more information on Facebook.
