Leonard P. Mondock, 70, of Morrisdale died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Jan. 24, 1946, he was the son of the late John P. and Pauline J. Buynak Mondock.

Mr. Mondock attended the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport.

He was a 1964 graduate of the West Branch High School. He was a 1967 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College.

He was employed by Corning Glass, State College, as a quality insurance manager from 1969-2002.

Mr. Mondock served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969, where he was an air traffic controller in Vietnam.

He received the Army Commendation Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

He was a member of the Osceola Mills VFW Post No. 5020. He was a volunteer for Tomorrows Hope, Coalport, for homeless veterans and for Second Harvest, Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport.

A hobby Mr. Mondock loved was cars, especially his 1937 Ford Sedan. He was also an avid West Branch sports fan.

He married Cheryl Hunt Mondock on July 11, 1970 at the Morrisdale United Methodist Church. She survives in Morrisdale.

He is survived by a son, Jeremy S. Mondock and his fiancée, Danielle Gutshall of Spring Grove; a sister, Ruth Casher of Black Moshannon and her children, Dean and Paul; and a brother, Patrick E. Mondock and his wife, Kathleen of Pinehurst, NC and their children, Roxanne, Lance, Dina, Lynne and Jay.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, David Casher.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport, with the Rev. James Hollister officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Military graveside services will be accorded by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
