Bernard Duane “Buck” Hatten, 78, of Curwensville died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Christ The King Manor in DuBois.

Born Aug. 12, 1937 in Chestnut Grove, he was the son of James Boyd and Beulah Mae (McKenrick) Hatten.

Mr. Hatten had served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War era.

He was a truck driver and first worked for Womelsdorf Trucking. He then drove for and was retired from the former Penn Traffic/Riverside Markets in DuBois.

Surviving are his close niece, Darla Hoover and her husband, Bud and his great-niece, Hannah Hoover; his nephew, James Johnston and his wife, Nancy and their son, Brad and his wife, Kira and their children, Carter and Solara; his niece, Sharon Hatten Wenner and her husband, Gene; his great-niece, Katie Lindgren and great-nephew U.S. Marine Corp Sgt. Brian Lindgren and his wife, Brittany and their son, Caden; and his niece, Cindy Hatten Michael and her husband, Kevin and their children, Tyler and Meghan.

Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Grace Hatten Hunter and her husband, Paul; his niece, Kathy Mandetta and family; and his nephews, Dan Johnston and family and Darren Johnston and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Boyd Delmont Hatten on March 1, 1981; a sister, Mary Avonelle Johnston on Nov. 1, 2006 and her husband Mirl Johnston; and an infant great-niece, Janet Lee Johnston.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Hatten will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grampian Church of God, with Pastor Dale Buchwitz officiating. Burial will be in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
