GANT RELOAD: Week of March 7

The GANT weekly reload gives readers a look back upon the most noteworthy stories of their work week.  It contains the big headlines, as well as a few stories you might have missed. It might even include a story or two of the lighter side.

The GANT reload will be posted each weekend for your perusal. For most part, the reload will be filled with local headlines, but every now and again, a state, world or national story will make the list.

Ex-DuBois Man Accused of Possessing Firearms and Selling Drugs Now Facing Home Invasion Charges

DUBOIS – A former DuBois man accused of possessing several firearms and selling drugs is now facing additional charges for a home invasion in Kittaning.

Hanson Gets State Prison for Osceola Mills VFW Shooting

CLEARFIELD – A Bellefonte man accused of attempted murder for shooting a man outside the Osceola Mills VFW was sentenced to state prison Monday.

Three More Charged in SCI Houtzdale Riot

HOUTZDALE – Three more inmates have been charged for their alleged involvement in a riot at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale in April of 2015, according to court paperwork from the office of Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins.

Wolf Signs Executive Order to Raise Minimum Wage for Certain Workers

HARRISBURG – On Monday as part of his “Jobs That Pay” initiative, Gov. Tom Wolf signed an executive order that ensures employees under the governor’s jurisdiction will be paid no less than $10.15 an hour.

DEP Holds Public Hearing on Windfall’s Application to Drill Injection Disposal Well

DUBOIS – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection held a public hearing last night on Windfall Oil & Gas Inc.’s application to drill an injection disposal well on the property of Frank and Susan Zelman (Zelman No. 1) near Highland Street Extension in Brady Township.  The hearing was held in the Hiller Auditorium at Penn State DuBois.
