Clearfield Borough to Examine Sign Ordinance, Sets Spring Clean-up Schedule

CLEARFIELD – An ordinance on signs will be getting a face-lift.

At Thursday’s work session, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack told the Clearfield Borough Council about issues regarding an existing ordinance about signs on buildings.

Mack said as the ordinance is presently written, business owners can only put signs on their building advertising the businesses in the building. Mack said there have been some challenges to the ordinance, and several buildings are in violation.

Mack said he will ask the Planning Commission to revisit the ordinance and work on tweaking it to make it more appropriate for the business owners.

Also at the meeting, the public works committee recommended approving the spring clean-up schedule.

Property owners on the west side of the river are scheduled for the week of March 28 and property owners on the east side of the river are scheduled for the week of April 4.
