Mr. T honors Nancy Reagan in a series of heartfelt tweets

Mr. T paid tribute to the late former first lady Nancy Reagan on Monday, recalling in a series of tweets their seemingly odd couple friendship and alliance in her anti-drug campaign.

“Not only did she invite me to the White House in December ’83, after meeting with her and President Ronald Reagan, she then asked me to help her with her ‘Just Say No’ program which I gladly accepted with humility and honor,” he wrote on Twitter.

During that late 1983 visit, Mr. T even took a turn as Santa Claus — with the first lady gamely sitting in his lap for a memorable photo opp.

Reagan died on Sunday at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 94. She will be buried on Friday beside her husband at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.

Mr. T rose to prominence in the early 1980s after appearing as “Clubber Lang” in “Rocky III” and starring in the popular TV series, “The A-Team.”

But on Monday, he called his work with Reagan “the highlight of my career.”

“I will continue her work in trying to keep kids from the Dangers of Drugs,” he wrote, “GOD Bless You First Lady.”
