Lawrence Twp. Police Investigating Counterfeit Money Incidents

CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township police are investigating counterfeit money incidents that occurred at multiple businesses in the Clearfield area on Feb. 7.

The incidents occurred at businesses, including JCPenney, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Dollar General and The Dollar Tree. During the incidents, two African-American females allegedly presented counterfeit money.

The females were allegedly observed traveling in a White Scion XB or Nissan Cube with New York license plates and unknown registration, police said.

According to police, the counterfeit $100 dollar bill is older in style and appearance. It has the year of 1988 and serial number of L05021394.

The counterfeit bill also has two, yellow lines/markings. “It makes it appear as if it was checked by a marker,” police said.
