Norman E. “Gene” Conklin, 80, of Hudson, Philipsburg RD, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 in Manville, NJ following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1935 at Philipsburg, he was a son of Norman and Catherine (Smiley) Conklin. He was a graduate of Philipsburg High School.
He was a member of the Philipsburg VFW Louis P. Jenkins Post 3450 and the Philipsburg AMVETS Post 159.
He last attended Abundant Life Fellowship. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Conklin retired as the sexton of Grace Lutheran Church, State College.
He is survived by his former wife, Jackie (Kephart) Conklin of Manville, NJ and two daughters, Tammy Conklin and Michelle Roach, both of Manville, NJ.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jamie, Jeremy, Justin, Heather and Alexis and five great-grandchildren with another on the way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Conklin.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Fowler officiating.
Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service. He will be forever in our hearts.
