DUBOIS – A Reynoldsville man will stand trial for burglary.
Tyler Siple, 21, 941 Yellow Brick Rd., Reynoldsville, currently an inmate of state prison, is also charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and criminal mischief as a result of his actions on July 28 in Sandy Township when he allegedly broke into the Scenic View Driving Range in Sandy Township.
Siple waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday during centralized court. His bail was set at $5,000, unsecured.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, when police arrived at the scene the owner of the property was arguing with Siple. Officers separated the two men.
One officer spoke with the victim, who stated he got a call from a man who lives near the range. This man told the victim he heard metal banging and when he looked out his window, he saw an individual ducking down behind the smoker located under the attached pavilion.
When the victim arrived on the scene, the man told him he saw the culprit heading toward the Thunderbird.
The victim saw someone standing near the Thunderbird, so he and his son approached the man from opposite sides. The victim asked this man, later identified as Siple, what he was doing and told him to wait until police arrived. He also questioned Siple about not having shoes or socks on his feet.
When an officer talked with Siple he explained he was sitting on the wall in front of the Thunderbird Restaurant when two men approached him and started to accuse him of breaking into the driving range.
These men told him he had to go with them and wait for police to arrive. Siple agreed to remain on the scene until the situation could be sorted out. He told police he was at the restaurant parking lot where he was fighting with his girlfriend who left, walking toward Reynoldsville. Two other friends left in her vehicle, he said.
Officers found hand prints on two windows on the main building that appeared to be from someone attempting to slide them open. They also found a boarded up window on the east side that was pried partially open, there were bare footprints on a picnic table near the window and a window on the west side of an out building was pushed in.
Police were able to lift fingerprints from the handprints that were identified as belonging to Siple.
