Edward V. Hand, 69, of Clearfield died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
He was born Feb. 3, 1947, a son of the late Harold and Margaret (Wisor) Hand.
Mr. Hand was employed as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and continued to serve with the National Guard.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, and the Third Ward Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Bortot) Hand, to whom he was wed March 24, 1973 in Clearfield.
He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cartwright and her husband, Don of Ginter and three sons, Edward V. Hand Jr. and his wife, Christina of Surveyor, Brian Hand and his companion, Elizabeth of Curwensville and Jason Hand of Clearfield.
He is survived by six grandchildren, Don Jr., Jon, Tiara, Hunter, Kurtis and Nathen and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hand is also survived by three sisters and three brothers, Barbara Gillingham and Robert Hand, both of Clearfield, Sara Swanson of Bigler, Eileen ‘Emily’ Kelley of Erie, John Hand of Grampian and David Hand of Woodland; a sister-in-law, Mary Helen Hipps and her children, Christina and Thomas; a friend, Charles Albert Reasinger; and his faithful pet dog, Maggie Mae.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Matthew Hand; a sister, Mary Jane Gillingham; and a brother, Harold Hand.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Animal Welfare Council of the Alleghenies, 1380 Shawville Hwy., P.O. Box 97, Woodland, PA 16881.
