James R. Hummel Sr., 67, went to be with the Lord Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at his home in Morrisdale.

He was born July 23, 1948 in Philipsburg, the son of the late Boyd Raymond and Isobel Young Beveridge.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann M. (Pollock) Hummel, on Feb. 1, 2007. They were married Sept. 24, 1966 at Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Philipsburg, and now are reunited again.

Surviving are his sons, James R. Hummel Jr. and his fiancée, Jennifer Alley of Winburne and Andrew J. Hummel of Morrisdale.

Surviving are his grandchildren, Brandon Hummel, Cassandra Alley and Briar A. Hummel and his step-grandchildren, Calysta Owens, CJ Owens and Jordan D. Balko.

Surviving are two brothers, Dennis R. Hummel Sr. and his wife, Nancy of Bigler and Jeffrey R. Hummel and his wife, Teresa of Morrisdale and his his loving and caring companion, Audrey Matsko of Morrisdale.  Also surviving, are many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Mr. Hummel was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, and the Holy Family Council No. 8701 Knights of Columbus, Morrisdale.

He was a decorated Vietnam veteran who had served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had retired from North Folk Southern, formerly Conrail, as an equipment operator.

He enjoyed life and his family to the fullest, going to camp every Saturday with his brothers, family and friends. He was an avid hunter and Harley Davidson rider.

Mr. Hummel’s one true love was going to his grandchildren’s’ ball games.

Family and friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hawk Run, with Father Robert J. Horgas as celebrant

Burial will be in the church cemetery, Hawk Run. Military honors will be accorded at the church by Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
