Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on Saturday endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich for president.
“It takes courage, it takes wisdom, it takes vision, it takes integrity,” Gonzales said about Kasich during a campaign event here. “Someone with experience is very important in the Oval Office.”
“The reason I am supporting Governor Kasich is because I love America.” Gonzales added.
Gonzales served as attorney general under President George W. Bush from 2005 until he resigned in 2007. His tenure was marked by controversy over the allegedly politically motivated firings of several U.S. attorneys and a controversial government no-warrant wiretapping program.
Earlier in the week, Kaisch picked up the endorsement of Idaho Gov. Butch Otter, though he has lagged well behind GOP front-runner Donald Trump, as well as Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, so far in the Republican primary fight.
