State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about an alleged incident of burglary that occurred sometime between Feb. 13 and Thursday on Flowing Well Road in Union Township. During the incident, someone allegedly entered the victim’s camp and out building. Once inside they allegedly went through his belongings and then fled the scene without taking anything. State police are continuing their investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 814-371-4652.
State police at Philipsburg
- State police received a report about an alleged incident of theft by unlawful taking that occurred sometime Feb. 3-4 at a basement laundry room on Loch Lomond Road in Rush Township. Further, the victim told state police that a large amount of her prescription medications were missing, and she had personal items stored in the laundry room due to a water issue in her apartment. The victim estimated a total loss of $500, state police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
Curwensville Borough
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment on Monday.
- On Wednesday police apprehended a Clearfield resident who was wanted in Tennessee. Police arraigned the man before Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling on charges in regards to being a fugitive, and his bail was subsequently set at $100,000.
DuBois City
- Police received another report about an alleged IRS phone scam on Wednesday.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle accident Wednesday at the intersection of Beaver Drive and Division Street. Further, a truck operated by a Tennessee woman proceeded into the intersection without stopping at a posted sign. As a result, it struck another truck operated by a DuBois man. No injuries were reported in the accident, and both vehicles were driven from the scene, police said. The woman will be cited for the accident.
- Police received a report about a male and female who were allegedly yelling Wednesday on South Brady Street. Upon arrival to the scene, police made contact with both. Police identified the male as John Frederick, 22, of DuBois, and determined he had six warrants for his arrest in Blair County. Police transported Frederick to the county jail, where a detainer was placed on him from Blair County.
- On Wednesday police were on patrol and allegedly observed a disturbance behind the Laundromat on West Long Avenue, which involved a mother and her daughter. While investigating the incident, police found the daughter was being unruly with her mother. She was sent home with her mother.
- Police received a report Wednesday about a dog that was allegedly left outside without the proper shelter and food/water in the 400 block of East Scribner Avenue. Upon arrival police located the dog, which appeared to be cold and not properly taken care of. Police took custody of the dog due to not being able to locate its owners. It was placed in the city kennel, and the incident remains under investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run accident Wednesday in the 300 block of South Avenue. Upon investigation police learned that a dark-colored sports utility vehicle was backing down the roadway, traveling east and then struck two legally-parked vehicles. The female operator exited the vehicle, observed the damage and then fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 814-765-1533.
- On Thursday police were on patrol and observed a green Pontiac passenger car traveling east on Railroad Avenue and East DuBois Avenue. Police allegedly observed several traffic violations and stopped the vehicle. While making contact with the female operator, police allegedly determined she was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for suspected DUI, and charges will be filed upon receipt of a lab report.
- On Thursday police were on patrol and observed a silver Suzuki station wagon traveling north on Juniata Street. Police allegedly observed traffic violations and stopped the vehicle. While making contact with the female operator, police allegedly determined she was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for suspected DUI, and charges will be filed upon receipt of a lab report.
- Police received another report Thursday from a resident about an alleged IRS phone scam. It was noted by police that the caller allegedly threatened an arrest if money wasn’t forwarded to him.
Sandy Township
- A 54-year-old Treasure Lake man lost control of his vehicle Wednesday on First Street. It subsequently slid off the road and over an embankment, coming to rest against a fence surrounding a National Fuel Compressor station. National Fuel employees confirmed that there was no damage done to the compressor, and the vehicle was towed back to the road and driven from the scene. No injuries were reported in the accident, police said.
- A 29-year-old Hanes Drive woman reported her ex-boyfriend was harassing her via numerous phone calls on Wednesday. Officers handled the situation without incident.
- A 24-year-old Hungry Hollow Road man took his sister’s car without permission and wrecked it on the Bee Line Highway on Wednesday. The vehicle skidded into the opposing lane of traffic and then went over an embankment before coming to rest. The driver left the scene prior to police arrival, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
- Police have received several reports about residents receiving phone calls from parties who are either claiming to be from the IRS, or officers representing the IRS, stating there is a warrant out for their arrest, which can be taken care of with a payment. These are scam calls and police would like to warn residents to never give out personal information over the phone. These calls can be ignored, police added.
- A 54-year-old man lost control of his vehicle Thursday due to driving too fast for conditions on No. 2 Shaft Road, and it caused the vehicle to hit an embankment and then overturn onto its side. No injuries were reported in the accident, police said.
