GROVE CITY — Freshman Michael Spencer (Clearfield) was of the top point-getters for repeat Presidents’ Athletic Conference champion Westminster in the James E. Longnecker Invitational hosted by Grove City last weekend.
Highlighting his three-day performance was touching first in the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best 21.17 seconds.
He also was a member of two Titan relay foursomes that were victorious, anchoring the 200 medley team with a 20.80-second split to stop the clock at 1:33.52 and registering a 47.86-second leadoff leg for the 400 freestyle team that posted a 3:08.90.
Spencer finished fifth in two other individual events.
He set a personal record with a 47.90-effort in the 100 free prelims and followed up with a 48.16-second sprint in the finals, and he lowered his mark to 52.31 seconds in the 100 butterfly.
Spencer also registered the fastest opening leg, 21.47 seconds, in the 200 free relay to trigger the Titan’s second-place finish in 1:25.64.
Westminster piled up 757 points, 207 more than runner-up Washington & Jefferson, in winning the PAC swimming and diving title for the seventh time since 2003 under head coach Bob Klamut, who received his ninth PAC Coach of the Year Award in his 31st and final season.

WRESTLING
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Junior Nolan Barger (Clearfield) remained undefeated with three first-period pins for Lycoming at the Wesleyan Duals Sunday.
The nation’s No. 2-ranked 165-pounder decked Oswego (N.Y.) State’s Mark Milisci at the 1:46 mark, Norwich’s Pat McCurdy at 1:44 and Wesleyan’s Roy Forys in just 37 seconds.
Barger leads the Warriors with 11 falls and now is tied for 10th place on the school’s single-season list.
He is 21-0 in duals and 28-0 overall.
Lycoming (14-7) defeated Oswego State 37-9 and Norwich 40-9 before falling to Wesleyan 21-16.
