Hillary Clinton will headline a fundraiser featuring performances by Elton John, Katy Perry and Andra Day on March 2, the day after what Clinton’s campaign is billing as a series of critical Super Tuesday contests.
The New York event, hosted by the famous Radio City Music Hall, will also includes speeches by Hillary, Bill and Chelsea Clinton, according to an invitation obtained by CNN.
Tickets to the event start at $125, notably low for a Clinton fundraiser, but go all the way up to $2,700 for premiere seats. Donors are also able to raise upwards of $10,000 to be considered an event host.
Clinton has routinely turned to celebrities to boost her campaign and fundraisers. Clinton has headlined fundraisers with Tony Bennett, Michael Bolton and Jon Bon Jovi in the last year, and Perry, a well known pop star, headlined a rally in Iowa for Clinton.
This will also be Clinton’s second event at Radio City Music Hall with Elton John. In 2008, during Clinton’s failed presidential bid, the world-renowned singer and songwriter headlined a fundraiser that ended up bringing in $2.5 million.
“I’ve always been a big Hillary fan. I hope she’s the next American president,” John said in 2008.
After losing to Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire, Clinton’s campaign has started to stress the importance of March contests in this Democratic nomination process. Clinton’s campaign has begun to build infrastructure in each state and has sought to lower expectations in Nevada and South Carolina, the next two contest on the Democratic map, by arguing that the nomination will be won in March, not February.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account that allows Clinton to raise money for the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic parties while she also raised money for her primary campaign.
