Edward A. Bermel Jr., 79, of Sebastian, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at Mount Laurel Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 23, 1936 in Jamaica, NY, the son of the late Edward Bermel Sr. and Helen (VonLehe).
Mr. Bermel served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Elks and Eagles.
He was Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his two children, Craig Bermel and Hope Turner, both of Sebastian, Fla., and three grandchildren, Jimmy, Austin and Tyler.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Shirley Shaw and her children, Cindy (Richard) Aughenbaugh of Clearfield, Cathy Shaw of Louisville, Ky., David (Tammy) Shaw of Allport, Scott (Michelle) Shaw of Palmyra, Lori (Tom) Smith of Pottsville and Brenda (Don) Hoover of Hatboro, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Dennis (Rena) Bermel and James (Carol) Bermel, both of New Jersey, and his beloved dog, Molly.
Mr. Bermel was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Ashley Bermel.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. John White officiating. Burial will be in Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm, Fla.
