Phyllis L. Shirey, 90, of Woodland died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
She was born Feb. 6, 1926 in Shiloh, the daughter of the late Walter and Verna (Welker) Krebs.
On Sept. 16, 1973, she married Glenn D. Shirey, who died June 30, 2005.
She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School. She went on to work for Clearfield Airplane Marine and then retired from Riverside.
Mrs. Shirey was a life-long member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church. She was active in the church and always volunteering her time.
She was a member of 4-H Club. She enjoyed knitting, canning, cooking and being a devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Thompson of Shiloh; three grandchildren, Kristi and her husband, Michael Hollis of Denver, Pa., Dustin Thompson of Shiloh and Teri Lyn Thompson and her fiancé, Nick Bauman of Howard; three great-grandchildren: Izak Thompson, Lucas Hollis and Jaxson Hollis; and a sister, Marie Maines of Shiloh.
Mrs. Shirey was preceded in death by her parents and husband and her siblings, Kyle Krebs, Jack Krebs, Marshall Krebs, Ray Krebs, Gloriann Krebs, Paul Krebs and Marvin Krebs.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 12 p.m. Friday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
