Hollywood spoofs Donald Trump in ‘Funny or Die’ movie

Johnny Depp is no stranger to outlandish film roles, but he has never tried his hand — or hair — at newly crowned New Hampshire GOP primary winner Donald Trump.

Until now.

Courtesy of the comedy site “Funny or Die,” the actor stars in a nearly hour-long spoof called “Funny or Die Presents Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie.”

Depp plays Trump alongside an impressive slate of Hollywood regulars, including Ron Howard and Patton Oswalt.

“Everyone who was involved in the project is super cool and people with whom we have great relationships,” “Funny or Die” editor-in-chief Owen Burke told CNN. “They all understood the importance of keeping this a secret with the understanding that the Internet loves to be surprised. Also there was a lot of begging.”

The movie is presented as a lost classic, with Howard explaining in the opening scene that its initial planned airing in 1988 was pre-empted by “Monday Night Football,” then “thought to be lost in the Cybill Shepherd blouse fire of 1989,” before “last summer, when it turned up at a yard sale outside Phoenix, Arizona.”

Not convinced? Here’s a look at the trailer:

The tightly held project was directed by Jeremy Konner, a co-creator of Comedy Central’s “Drunk History,” and written by former Onion editor Joe Randazzo. The cast includes Jack McBrayer, Henry Winkler, ALF and Michaela Watkins, who plays Ivana Trump.

The appropriately titled theme song, “The Art of the Deal,” is performed by none other than singer, songwriter and 1980s soundtrack king Kenny Loggins.
