A police officer in Seaside, Oregon, was killed in the line of duty Friday night, according to the Seaside Police Department.
The officer was serving a warrant in downtown Seaside when he was fired upon, city spokesman John Rahl said.
A second officer fired back and wounded the suspect, who was then transported to a hospital.
Police said the officer was 39 years old and had been with the department for 13 years, according to CNN affiliate KATU.
The investigation is ongoing.
