Ethel Mae Norris, 95, a resident of Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield and formerly of Olanta, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at the center.
Born Aug. 9, 1920 in Big Run, she was the daughter of Jacob Earl and Gertrude R. (Kelly) Hineman. Mrs. Norris was a homemaker.
She had worked for the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville for 16.5 years and also for the former Clearfield Furs for seven months. She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church of Olanta.
On Feb. 8, 1941 in Punxsutawney, she wed Reuben Albert Norris Sr., who preceded her in death on March 31, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two great-grandchildren, Chloee Norris and Jason Norris Jr.; a sister, Grace Rasely; and three brothers, George, Clarence and Miles Hineman. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are two children, Reuben Albert Norris Jr. and his wife, Kathryn and G. Jean Collins and her husband, H. Colin, both of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Kelly (Collins) Wallace, Casey Collins and Jason Norris; four great-grandchildren, Sierra Collins, Haylee Wallace Adan Wallace and Casandra Norris; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kyrra Lea Schlindwein.
Funeral services for Mrs. Norris will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Samuel Maines officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
