Donald Dwight “Trigger” Bloom, 86, of Dubois and formerly of Curwensville and Clearfield, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at the Dubois Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 19, 1929 in Curwensville, he was the son of Alvin Chester and Margaret Jean (Pifer) Bloom.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Teacher’s College of Indiana, Pa. in April of 1955.
He worked for Kurtz Bros. as a foreman and superintendent and retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a rural mail carrier for 16 years.
He was a life member of Curwensville American Legion and the Clearfield Moose. He was a former member of Curwensville Lions Club, the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club, the Eagles Ridge Golf Club and the B.P.O.E. No. 540 Elks in Clearfield.
On Aug. 6, 1960 in Curwensville, he wed K. Lorraine Valimont, who survives of DuBois. He is also survived by a brother, C. Eugene Bloom of Arkansas and Janet Lynn Carter and her husband, James of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At the request of Mr. Bloom, there will be no public services. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
