Ted Cruz campaign: $19 million cash on hand

Ted Cruz’s campaign said it would announce it had $19 million in the bank as of the end of 2015, a sizable figure that could lead the Republican field, communications director Rick Tyler tweeted.

No other campaign has released its cash-on-hand figure, which are due to the Federal Election Commission this weekend. But few campaigns are projected to have raised close to $20 million, never mind have that much in reserves.

The campaign commonly praises itself for stingily holding its advertising dollars and not spending money on far-flung field operations early in the race.

And on Thursday night, campaign manager Jeff Roe said the campaign would have “high single digits” more on hand than any other GOP campaign.

The campaign raised under $21 million in the fourth quarter of 2015, which ended Dec. 31.
