Former supermodel, business mogul and America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks is a new mom. That’s right; she can add mother to her list of accomplishments.
Banks, 42, and her Norwegian photographer boyfriend, Erik Asla, welcomed a baby boy, named York Banks Asla, to the world on Wednesday evening.
She shared a picture of a newborn hat with her followers on Instagram. The caption read, “The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. …”
The couple had the baby via surrogate. “As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone,” Banks said.
Banks opened up on FABLife, a show she once co-hosted, about her fertility struggles. She and former co-star Chrissy Teigen talked emotionally about their obstacles on an episode in September 2015.
She tearfully discussed how people would constantly ask her on social media why she didn’t have kids and Banks responded, “You don’t know, you don’t know what I’m going through, you have know idea.”
This is the first child for the couple.
