The Republican National Committee raised more than $100 million last year, the party chairman announced Wednesday.
GOP Chairman Reince Priebus tweeted the numbers Wednesday morning, calling it a “historic” haul.
“BREAKING: Historic year for @GOP. Raised off-year record $105.6M in 2015, $18.7M (cash on hand). We’re the only org focused/ready for general election,” he wrote.
The RNC raised $10 million in December from 98% donations that were $200 and under, the RNC said. The average donation was $96.
The party’s debt in December was $1.8 million.
According to the most recent filings available with the Federal Election Commission, the RNC has been steadily out-raising Democrats.
Through November 30, the last reporting deadline, the RNC had raised more than $75 million and had just over $18 million cash on hand. The Democratic National Committee had reported nearly $51 million raised and cash on hand of almost $5 million.
The DNC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Priebus’ announcement.
The RNC says since 2013, it has out-raised the DNC by about $70 million.
