Murdoch nudges Bloomberg to run for president

From one billionaire media mogul to another, Rupert Murdoch has some advice for Michael Bloomberg: Get in the 2016 race, because “you never know.”

“This is Bloomberg’s last chance,” Murdoch wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning. “You never know until your hat is in the ring! Events change everything, especially during elections.”

Murdoch offered his political guidance to Bloomberg amid intensifying speculation that Bloomberg will jump into the 2016 presidential race. The former New York City mayor is seriously considering a White House bid because he is dissatisfied with the current field of presidential candidates.

The tweet also comes one day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump announced he would skip Thursday’s presidential debate held by Fox News, which, as a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, is owned by Murdoch.

Murdoch had also weighed in on Bloomberg’s possible White House ambitions last week. He tweeted then, “Allegedly Bloomberg again considering running. If he does, may hurt Clinton more than Trump. Seems 2016 the year for populists.”

Both men are immensely powerful media tycoons. Murdoch is also the executive chairman of News Corp, which owns The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post. Bloomberg is the founder and owner of the eponymous media and financial data company Bloomberg.
