CLEARFIELD – The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library recently received early-grade reading material from the Clearfield Area United Way for area children.

Nearly 100 children’s books were donated, as nationwide many groups pledged to strengthen communities and empower individuals in conjunction with Martin Luther King Day.

“By taking part in this national day of service, we celebrate Dr. King’s life and vision for America,” said Nancy Pinto of the Clearfield Area United Way.

Including these donations, more than 3,700 books have been distributed and are being used to make a difference through the CAUW’s Reading Ripples program.

Anyone who would like to either make a tax-deductible monetary donation, or of some new or slightly-used children’s books is asked to contact the United Way at 814-765-6521.
