Justin Bieber made Chelsea Handler uncomfortable.
Asked to name her worst interview in a chat with Variety, the talk show host — who recently launched a new show, “Chelsea Does,” on Netflix — said Bieber, because the pop star made her feel like a “child molester.”
“He was trying to flirt with me and it was so uncomfortable,” she said. “Like, that’s his schtick. He would come on and flirt with you and you just felt like a child molester right away. And I didn’t want to feel that way.”
That’s saying something, given that the talk show host has usually been anything but uncomfortable, whether it’s performing nude in a sketch with Ellen DeGeneres and Conan O’Brien or confessing to all kinds of outrageous behavior in her books, including “My Horizontal Life” and “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.”
But Bieber took things too far, she said.
“I think he does that with everybody,” she said. But it didn’t work: “I was not sexually attracted to a child.”
Handler called him on his flirtation in Bieber’s 2011 appearance on “Chelsea Lately.”
But, as she told Ronan Farrow in a 2014 interview, there was only so much of Bieber — and celebrity culture — she could take.
“There’s only so many years you can talk about Justin Bieber,” she said. “I don’t care about him and I can’t pretend that I do.”
