Sandy Township Passes Resolution Adding Fee for Turning Water Back On

DUBOIS – On Monday night, the Sandy Township Supervisors voted to pass Resolution 2016-5, which adds a fee for turning water back on for a customer.

“This is in regards to the ongoing efforts to maintain, or minimize if you will, the ongoing bills with water and sewer,” said Township Manager Dave Monella.

When asked by Supervisor Mark Sullivan, Monella explained the fee neither would be applied in emergency situations, nor if the waterline needed turned off for repairs.

The intent of the resolution is to cover scenarios in which a water connection was turned off either due to either delinquent payments or had been requested while the property sat vacant, he said.

Zoning/Code Enforcement Officer Jim Keck announced that 20 new homes had been constructed in 2015.  Of those 15 were in Treasure Lake, he said.

Sandy Township Fire Departments limited damages to a half-million dollars last year.

“I think they did an excellent job for the year.  They are to be commended,” said Supervisor Dave Sylvis.
