‘The Bachelor’: Twitter has a field day

Let’s be honest: There’s a lot to mock when it comes to “The Bachelor.”

There are bound to be some interesting moments when 28 ladies vie each week to receive a rose (and ultimately an engagement ring) from the “lucky” gentleman.

This year’s bachelor is Ben Higgins, a Denver-based account manager for a software company. Higgins, a native of Indiana, first appeared on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of “The Bachelorette,” where he got his heart broken and came in third place.

He appeared to be past all that on Monday night’s season premiere, where he was very popular with the ladies.

This year’s batch includes 22-year-old blonde twins Emily and Haley from Las Vegas, as well as Amber James and Becca Tilley, who had attempted to win the heart of season 19 bachelor Chris Soules.

But one contestant jumped out front as the one for fans to watch.

Lace, a real estate agent from Denver, appeared to have had a few glasses of adult beverages before she confronted Higgins for not making eye contact with her at the rose ceremony.

Of course, Twitter was all about it.

Overall, the tweeple had so much to say about this new season of “The Bachelor.” From Higgins’ dimples to a contestant who was unfortunately without a job when the first episode was filmed, it was all good. Or bad, depending upon your perspective.

Higgins told Jimmy Kimmel on the latter’s late night show that despite how it may look to have a group of women trying to win your heart, “I don’t know if I’d catalog it as fun.”

“It’s taxing. Emotionally, you get sucked up in everything, and everyone’s nervous,” he said. “Fun is not the word.”

It remains to be seen whether Higgins takes his predecessor Soules’ advice to kiss all the ladies.
