WARSAW TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based state police say a vehicle collided with an Amish buggy Saturday on state Route 28, at its intersection with Reitz Crossing Road in Warsaw Township, Jefferson County.

According to state police, around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, 61-year-old Gerald A. Ross of Reynoldsville and 55-year-old David J. Byler of Brockway were involved in the collision.

State police say a 2013 Subaru Outback – driven by Ross – was traveling south on Route 28 and negotiating a right curve in the roadway. Two Amish buggies were traveling in front of the Subaru, and the Subaru struck Byler’s buggy.

Ross was using a seatbelt and was not injured.

Byler and a passenger – 54-year-old Sarah C. Byler of Brockway – were not injured.

Brockway Emergency Medical Services transported a 15-year-old female passenger in Byler’s buggy to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment of moderate injuries.

The Amish buggy sustained damage and the horse that was pulling the buggy was injured and died as a result of the crash.

Ross was charged with a traffic violation.
