Steve Harvey is sorry, the Internet isn’t

Your bad, Steve Harvey.

The “Family Feud” host has apologized for announcing the wrong winner Sunday night for the Miss Universe pageant, but social media is getting its life from the incident.

Let’s be honest, Harvey’s snafu is what the Internet’s dreams are made of. Serving as master of ceremonies for the pageant, Harvey initially read the winner as Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, who was quickly crowned.

But then Harvey had to double back and say that Gutierrez was in fact the first runner-up and the actual winner was Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines.

The memes came fast and furious, most of them at Harvey’s expense.

Harvey took to Twitter to apologize to both the contestants and viewers, calling it an “honest mistake.”

Presidential hopeful and former owner of the Miss Universe pageant Donald Trump tweeted that such an error would not have happened on his watch.

Trump and NBC Universal ended their partnership with the pageant earlier this year after Trump made controversial remarks about Mexican immigrants.
