The bomb squad of the Miami-Dade Police Department searched an airliner that arrived from France on Tuesday for “a suspicious item discovered onboard,” American Airlines reported.
After several hours, police concluded their search and allowed passengers to reboard the plane, said Greg Chin, communications director for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department.
The Boeing 777 arrived at Miami International Airport from Charles de Gaulle Airport about 3:30 p.m. with 217 passengers and a crew of 14, Ross Feinstein of American Airlines said.
All passengers on American Airlines Flight 63 deplaned and were placed on buses, Chin said. The plane was searched in a remote section of the airport.
After the search, the passengers reboarded the plane and were taken to the terminal, where they would receive normal processing by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Chin said.
