New York City 6-alarm fire injures 9, displaces 89

A six-alarm fire in the New York City borough of the Bronx burned through eight homes, injuring nine people and displacing 89 residents, a fire official said.

Six of the injured were firefighters; three were citizens, said Lt. Craig Mosia with the New York City Fire Department. Seventy-four adults and 15 children were left without homes.

The fire broke out Thursday just before midnight, Mosia said. It took fire crews three hours to get the blaze under control.
