CLEARFIELD – A Madera man will stand trial for allegedly raping a girl over an approximate three-year period.
Robert Philbert Myers, 35, of Madera is facing 150 counts each of rape forcible compulsion and statutory sexual assault-11 years older; 100 counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse-forcible compulsion and IDSI-person less than 16 years of age; and 250 counts each of indecent assault-forcible compulsion and indecent assault-person less than 16 years of age. These charges were held for court following a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Myers was free on $75,000 unsecured bail. However, his bail was modified to $150,000 monetary at his preliminary hearing. Myers is currently incarcerated at the Clearfield County Jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 7 state police received a report from a girl who stated she had been raped over an approximate three-year period. State police noted that the exact timeframe is unknown; however, the victim indicated it was at least three years of consecutive incidents with the most recent being in summer of 2014.
During interviews with state police and at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the victim said when she was 12-13 years old, Myers started to “awkwardly” brush against her lower back, buttocks and thigh area. Also, she alleged that Myers forced her to have sex with him for approximately three years.
The victim said that Myers raped her most of the time at a Madera residence. She said the first rape occurred in Myers’ work truck somewhere pulled off the road, and it caused her pain. The victim said that one other rape incident also occurred in Myers’ work truck.
She said when the rapes occurred at the residence Myers would ask if she wanted to go to the basement. She would say no, but Myers would be persistent and she was afraid of him. She said as a result, she would do what Myers told her to.
She also alleged that Myers forced her to perform a sex act on him at the residence. She said it occurred often and sometimes almost every day. She said the frequency of the rapes varied from as often to two to three times per week to as little as once every three weeks.
According to the victim, Myers offered her trades for sex. For example, he allegedly helped with her car payment if she didn’t have enough money. She also said that Myers gave her cigarettes for sex; during the second rape in his work truck, she said he even gave her marijuana.
The victim said Myers became very upset with her during the last rape incident. She said it occurred in August of 2014, and Myers told her not to tell anyone. He allegedly warned her that she would get into more trouble than him.
The victim said Myers also allegedly threatened her with ultimatums if she didn’t give him sexual gratification.
