Primanti Bros. Restaurant Opening in Altoona

PITTSBURGH – Primanti Brothers restaurant is celebrating the opening of its 30th location by giving away free sandwiches for a year to 100 lucky members of the Altoona community. The new restaurant is located at 2550 Plank Road Commons, Altoona.

Hungry fans can win their free sandwiches by listening to 98.1 WFGY and 104.9 WRKY beginning on Wednesday or by paying attention to Primanti’s

Twitter handle, @PrimantiBros, starting on the same day at 12 p.m.

“We are excited to be opening in Altoona,” said Toni Haggerty, general manager at Primanti’s original location in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

“One of the most common requests we get is, ‘Hey! When are you going to build a restaurant near me?’ So, we decided to save some fans a bit of driving.”

Since 1933, Primanti Brothers has been a dining institution in Pittsburgh. The “Almost Famous” Primanti Brothers sandwich is built between two slices of crusty – yet soft – Italian bread. It’s piled high with a choice of select meats, an optional egg, secret recipe coleslaw and fresh-cut fries.

With an expanded menu, the newest Primanti Brothers in Altoona will also feature made-from-scratch pizza, gourmet wings, burgers, salads, soups and a full bar.

The new restaurant will be open for dinner beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 11. It will open at 11 a.m. with its regular, full-day hours, on Saturday, Dec. 12.
