Burned girl who lost family in arson asks for Christmas cards

For one little girl, her Christmas wish is simple.

Eight-year-old Sa’fyre Terry of Schenectady, New York, lost her family two years ago in a fire police say was intentionally set. She survived with severe burns to her face, and lost her right hand and foot as a result of her injuries.

What she really wants this holiday season is Christmas cards from around the world, a family friend said in a Facebook post a few days ago.

It started when her aunt, Liz Dolder, bought her a Christmas tree on which to hang cards. Sa’fyre decided she wanted to fill the tree with as many cards as she could get.

The Facebook post from family friend Kevin Clark has been shared nearly 20,000 times and a crowdfunding page set up for Sa’fyre and the Dolder family had raised more than $102,000 as of Wednesday morning.
