Jeff Tech Student Assists with Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner

DUBOIS – A free Thanksgiving dinner was held on Thanksgiving Day for any member of the DuBois community and surrounding area at the United Methodist Church on the corner of West Long Avenue and High Street in DuBois.

Pastor Tucker expressed a need for an experienced carver to come in and carve the 26 turkeys being prepared for the event.  A sophomore from the Culinary Career and Technical Education program at Jeff Tech volunteered to come over to the church from his hometown of Punxsutawney to help carve the turkeys.

Brayden Bowser and his father, a former CTE Lumbering instructor at Jeff Tech, spent roughly three hours helping volunteers get the turkeys ready for the event.

Pastor Tucker emphasized the importance of the fellowship involved in the event.  He stated that it wasn’t about what church you attended, or if you attended church at all, it was about the community coming together to share their time and resources to allow everyone to partake in a home cooked Thanksgiving meal.

“Brayden was an asset to this event, and we are very grateful to him for sharing his time and expertise,” stated Jeff Tech school officials.
